Cats eyes!
She always gets this grumpy/bolshy face on when she is picked up and her tummy is being rubbed
When I'm giving Helen a tummy rub she reaches out for my nose and puts her
paw there - I've no idea why but it seems to be the thing to do - a new ritual
Ears looking at you, kid. (and yes, it did rain. It always does eventually!)
"Enough photo's already - Yawn, ...I've had enough now "
- Helen shows of her one fang (the other one got removed due to tartar). She
doesn't actually 'bite' you she 'gums' you, the claws however are all there and not
quite as funny

Helen is often the centre of attention
She has a habit of looking at me through the mirror when I get
dressed in the morning and often stares at herself too, probably admiring her
smart coat over my jive clothes

Helen has taken up the habit of
jumping up on the bed when we are making it, What a kid!

Helen has a big fan
Kate my niece has hardly caught a glimpse of Helen (who is not at all
used to children and takes off quick smart when ever they are in earshot)
but is none the less Helen's biggest fan. (outside of us of course!).

More proof Helen thinks she's a dog
- She loves playing chasing.
- She eats shoes.
- She's always waiting up the drive when we come home from work.
- She doesn't retrieve sticks when you throw them!
Helen's quirky nature:
- She loves yoghurt, she started getting the foil lid each time we had one
but has progressed to us pouring ½ the container onto it to satisfy her
cravings. The mere sight of a yoghurt pottle makes her crawl all over you in
anticipation
- Helen only meows when there is something to say but every time I sneeze she
gives a short meow as if to say 'bless you!'.
- With the problem of other cats coming in the cat flap we always flip
the latches that prevent cats coming in. Helen has developed a technique of
tapping the door until it bounces out enough to get a paw under then she gets her
head under and slides in with her tail tucked between her legs to prevent it getting
caught as the door closes after her. No other cats in the neighbourhood can do that
one!

Helen's Origins
Helen first appeared when some neighbours had her follow them home from the
Carlton Pub one night.
She was named Helen by the neighbours and started spending an increasing amount
of time at our place until she was fully adopted (she got a lot of attention because
she was only tiny).
I saw some extremely similar cats one day when I was down at Hey Jude's
hair salon and asked the hair dresser about them. They both had peoples names as well,
Clarisa and Imogen I think. Apparently the old mother cat was never fixed because
the owner thought it was natural for them to have hundreds of kittens! I
commented on how hard it must be to give that many kittens away, after all, her
friends must be kitten saturated, and asked what she did with the left over kittens.
I was horrified to hear she took them across the road to the vet and had the put down.
The Carton Hotel, Vet's and Hey Jude's are all within 50 Meters of each other.
My postulation
is that Helen was indeed one of the offspring that was due for early retirement and
that somehow, as a consequence of her undoubted foresight and intelligence,
she escaped! Knowing her destiny lay before her, she lay in waiting, as scores of
inebriated souls passed by numb to the convergent forces that define history.

I was tidying up my boots the other day and turned around to find Helen licking
away at the Dubbin, purring. Needless to say I got it off her fairly quickly but it may
explain her footwear fetish. She has in the past gone absolutely crazy over certain
pairs of shoes rubbing herself all over them, dribbling on them and then trying to eat them.
Perhaps she thinks she's a dog!

I pointed the web cam at Helen's basket for the day and set a time lapse program
going to see what she does while we're at work. I can now categorically say
absolutely nothing! She seems to have a very Garfield like attitude. Apart from a few stretches
to stop the bed sores she didn't move out of her much loved basket at all. Nice for some.
